
In their regular article for industry insiders, Medical Marketing & Media (MM&M) featured the CME Coalition’s announcement that more than 800 comments were submitted to the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regarding the a recent proposed rule pertaining to the Physician Payment Sunshine Act. As the comment period closed concerning CMS' potential regulation that could have eliminated the CME reporting exemption, MM&M highlighted the efforts of stakeholders and physicians to protect the ability of speakers and attendees to participate in commercially supported CME events without fear of being reported for receiving a “transfer of value.” “The [CME C]oalition reports that over 200 medical societies have submitted or signed onto comments also urging for a modification to the exemption," the article notes.
